Data point coordinates were collected from cave location reports maintained by the West Virginia State Geologist.  Latitude and Longitude were entered from the cave reports into an Excel spread sheet along with cave horizontal length. The spread sheet was then used to create point files.  The cave points were then buffered by the horizontal length to generate the potential subsidence hazard zone.

Abstract:

These themes show the location of potential land subsidence within the boundaries of Jefferson County, West Virginia. 

Purpose:

The purpose of this data theme is to provide digital spatial information to assist in the development of a hazard mitigation and assessment plan for Jefferson County, West Virginia Project Impact.
