Radio Training
Jefferson County Emergency Communications; the police, fire, and EMS agencies of the County, as well as other approved Federal and State agencies utilize a P25 trunked radio system known as the West Virginia Statewide Interoperable Radio Network (SIRN) (formerly known as the Interoperable Radio Project, or IRP for short). This robust radio system allows public safety to communicate for day-to-day emergency operations. For more information on the SIRN please click the link below.

West Virginia Statewide Interoperable Radio Network
Radio training is mandatory for all end users of the radio system. All classes are conducted by a trained and certified instructor. On the bottom of this page is the start of the registration process to attend a radio training class. Prior to registering for any radio training class all students must complete the three National Incident Management System classes listed below. If you need to take one of these classes just click on the title of the class and you will be redirected to the on-line FEMA Emergency Management Institue web site. There is a link at the top right, next to the class title, that will allow you to begin the on-line class. IS-700 - Introduction to National Incident Management System (NIMS) IS-100 - Introduction to Incident Command System (ICS) IS-200 - ICS for Single Resources All line officers and department management personnel must also complete the NIMS classes listed below. IS-300 and IS-400 are not classes that can be taken online but rather, are courses that are instructed by RESA 8 instructors. If either of these classes is needed please click the class title and you will be redirected to RESA 8, any upcoming classes will be listed on the calendar page located on the far right tab. IS-800 - National Response Framework The majority of the Quarterly Radio Training classes will be held at Jefferson County Emergency Communications Center, located at 28 Industrial Blvd, Kearneysville, WV 25430. If you are not on this list and are a public safety user of the system, you must sign up for training. If your name is listed but the the date is blank, the Emergency Communications Center does not have verification of your attendance. Completed Radio Training List - by Name (as of Oct 2011) Completed Radio Training List - by Agency (as of Oct 2011) Every department has within its ranks radio trainers and coordinators/radio officers. If you attended training and your name is not on the list, contact your trainer and/or coordinator who should contact the Communications Director with your name, which class you attended (date, location, and instructor), and a contact phone number. Proof of attendance is required.
