Homeland Security and Emergency Management
Do you have summer children’s programs that you are looking for activities and/or readers for? We can help!
The Jefferson County Homeland Security and Emergency Management is sponsoring the “Disaster Ready Kids Program- 2013.” The Disaster Ready Kids Program-2013 will teach children about home safety, and what to do during storms and disasters. See the attached page for selection of books.
We have books and accompanying booklets and materials that are age appropriate for children’s groups. If your group of children is over the age of 9, we can show them how to put together a Family Disaster Supply Kit or a Pet Disaster Supply Kit. There is no cost to participate in this program.
Our staff will come to your facility and read and discuss your chosen book from the attached list. The only requirements are that you have adults there to be responsible for the children while the activities are taking place, that you let us know how many children to prepare for (ballpark number), and that you work with us to schedule a time that works well for both organizations.
We are scheduling for the 2013 summer season—June through September 30, 2013. If you have questions please contact me at 304-724-8914 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible. If you would like to schedule a session, please fill out the attached form and return it by either mail or fax. We need at least a two-week notice to schedule your activity.
