CHARLES TOWN, WV (October 7, 2024) – On Friday, October 4, 2024, the West Virginia State Fire Marshal unanimously voted to approve the Jefferson County Emergency Services Agency’s (JCESA) application for a Fire Department Identification (FDID) number, a critical move to enhance the county’s emergency response capabilities.
An FDID number is a unique state-assigned identifier that allows fire departments to track incidents, report resources, and streamline communication across jurisdictions. In addition to improving operational efficiency, obtaining an FDID number will enable JCESA to apply for various pots of federal funding that are available to fire departments and emergency service providers.
This application has been backed by the Jefferson County Fire and Rescue Association, which consists of leadership from the county’s seven volunteer fire companies, and the Jefferson County Commission.
“With the approval of this FDID number, JCESA will be better equipped to seek federal funding, allowing us to further invest in public safety,” said JCESA Director Mike Sine. “We are grateful for the support from our Fire and Rescue Association, the Jefferson County Commission, and the State Fire Marshal-- we look forward to continuing our efforts to protect Jefferson County residents.”
Please call the Commission Office with questions (304) 728-3284.
