CHARLES TOWN, WV (November 20, 2024) – The Jefferson County Commission thanks Commissioner Kelvin Upson for his contributions during his tenure representing the Harpers Ferry Magisterial District. Appointed twice to this role, Commissioner Upson demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering steady leadership and a dedication to community engagement.
During his service, Commissioner Upson played a significant role in engaging the community. Notable accomplishments include co-hosting a town hall with former Commissioner James Cook to gather public input on solar development in Jefferson County and leading a task force to analyze and address the challenges of trash and illegal parking along Bloomery Road. Commissioner Upson was also an active participant in County-level boards and commissions such as the Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Commission.
"Commissioner Upson's steady leadership and engagement with the community set a strong example for public service,” said Commissioner Pasha Majdi. Commissioner Majdi worked alongside Upson during pivotal changes in the county and replaced Upson yesterday as the Harpers Ferry District representative.
The Jefferson County Commission extends its appreciation to Commissioner Upson for his work and dedication to the County and wishes him success in his future endeavors.
