Jefferson County Commission Hosts Meeting and Office Tour with U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito

Charles Town, WV (November 21, 2025) – The Jefferson County Commission recently welcomed U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito for a meeting with the mayors of each of Jefferson County’s municipalities and a tour of the future site of the Jefferson County Health Department.
During the meeting with municipal leaders, county and city officials shared updates on ongoing initiatives, discussed shared challenges, and identified areas where continued federal partnership will support local progress. Senator Capito offered insight into federal programs and upcoming legislative considerations, underscoring the importance of coordination across all levels of government.
As part of her visit, Senator Capito toured the future location where the Health Department will be located. County officials provided an overview of the project’s goals, anticipated community benefits, and the broader effort to strengthen local public health capacity.
The Commission expressed its appreciation to Senator Capito for her support of $345,000 for the relocation and buildout of the Jefferson County Health Department, as well as an additional $120,000 for license plate readers.
“Senator Capito has been a strong partner for Jefferson County, and we are grateful for her responsiveness to the needs of both the County and our municipalities,” said Commission President Pasha Majdi. “Her support has helped move forward important projects that directly benefit our residents.”
