Commission Seeks Applicants for Volunteer Boards- January 27, 2026

CHARLES TOWN, WV (January 27, 2026) – The Jefferson County Commission intends to appoint to the following authorities, boards, commissions, or committees.

Current Openings:
- Jefferson County Property Safety Board: one, two-year term
- Jefferson County Board of Zoning Appeals
- Jefferson County Emergency Services Council: five, staggered terms (1, 2, and 3-year terms)
- South Jefferson Library Board: two, five-year terms
- Hagerstown/ Eastern Panhandle Metropolitan Planning Organization: one opening (must be an elected official of a municipality)
- Jefferson County Deputy Sheriffs Civil Service Commission
- HOME Consortium: one, unexpired term
- Eastern Panhandle Transit Authority: two, 2-year terms
- Agritourism Taskforce: eight, 3-year terms
- Water Advisory Committee: one, Shepherdstown Water Department; one, Harpers Ferry Water Works; one, WV Environment Protection;
Upcoming Openings:
- Property Safety Board: one, fire chief (2-year); two, 2-year terms for citizen (Opening February)
- Planning Commission: three, 3-year terms (Opening March)
- Jefferson County Development Authority: three, 3-year terms (opening in April)
- Parks and Recreation Commission: three, 3-year terms (opening June)
- South Jefferson Library Board: 1, additional seat (June)
- Solid Waste Authority: one, 4-year term (June)
- Water Advisory Committee: one, additional seat (resident) (July)
- Farmland Protection Board: one farmer and soil conservation district member, and 1 public member (September)
- Region 9 Economic Development Council (September)
