Commission Publishes Map of Valley Link Study Segments

CHARLES TOWN, WV (August 20, 2026) – The Jefferson County Commission has published a new interactive mapping resource to help residents better understand how the Valley Link transmission line study segments may relate to their properties, neighborhoods, natural and historic resources, and the broader community.
At the Commission’s direction, County GIS staff created a map that overlays the publicly available Valley Link study segments with local information, including affected parcels, historic resources, zoning, and existing land use. The map also includes right-of-way, quarter-mile, and half-mile buffers and allows users to navigate directly to individual study segments for a closer view.
Although Valley Link declined to provide the GIS data requested by the County, staff used publicly available information to create a best-estimate overlay. The locations shown are approximate and should not be considered official or final transmission line routes.
The study segments are not final routes. Jefferson County will continue to provide relevant information and resources to the community as the project moves forward.
