Kearneysville, WV – March 9, 2026 — As warmer weather arrives, The Jefferson County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is reminding residents to stay alert and prepared for severe weather conditions expected this week. Forecasts indicate a risk of strong storms, with damaging winds as the primary threat.
How to Stay Prepared:
Stay Informed: Monitor local weather forecasts and warnings through multiple sources, including NOAA Weather Radio, local news, and official social media channels.
- Create an Emergency Plan: Ensure your family knows where to take shelter during storms and how to communicate if separated.
- Prepare an Emergency Kit: Include essentials such as water, non-perishable food, flashlights, batteries, first aid supplies, and important documents.
- Secure property: Bring in outdoor furniture, secure loose items, and check that your home’s drainage systems are clear.
