Citizen Corps

The Citizen Corps program was born in the wake of 9/11/2001 as a means of establishing relationships between local government and community volunteers.  The national Citizen Corps program includes CERT, Neighborhood Watch, Medical Reserve Corps, Volunteers in Police Service, and the Fire Corps.  The on-going guiding principle of the Citizen Corps program is that we all have a role in hometown security.  Jefferson County was named as a Citizen Corps Community in 2003 and the Steering Committee also acts as the local Citizen Corps Council for Jefferson County.
