Disaster Ready Kids Program
Do you have summer children's programs that you are looking for activities and/or readers for? We can help!
The Jefferson County Homeland Security and Emergency Management office is sponsoring the "Disaster Ready Kids Program 2019." The Disaster Ready Kids Program-2019 will teach children about home safety, and what to do during storms and other emergencies. See the attached pages for selection of books available.
We have books and accompanying booklets and materials that are age appropriate for children's groups. If your group of children is over the age of 8, we can have a preparedness presentation, show them how to put together a Family Disaster Kit, or work together to develop a unique lesson plan based on your needs. There is no cost to participate in this program.
Our staff will come to your facility to read and discuss your chosen book from the attached list. The only requirements are that you have adults there to be responsible for the children while the activities are taking place, that you let us know how many children to prepare for (ballpark number), and that you work with us to schedule a time that works for both organizations.
We are scheduling for the 2019 summer season- June through September 30, 2019. If you have questions, please contact Brianna Gustafson at 304-724-8914 or email me at bgustafson@jeffersoncountywv.org as soon as possible. If you would like to schedule a session, please fill out the attached form and return it either by email or fax (304-728-3320). We need at least a two-week notice to schedule your activity.
