Effective May 1, 2025, voters must show a form of Photo Identification to vote in person during Early Voting or on Election Day in any election. Refer to "Be Registered & Be Ready to Vote!" for more information.
NEW PRIMARY BALLOT ELIGIBILITY!
Effective December 1, 2024, pursuant to WV Code §3-2-31, the Republican Party only allows registered Republicans to vote the Republican Party Primary Ballot.

Early Voting & Election Day

Early Voting will be held at the new
JEFFERSON COUNTY GOVERNMENT COMPLEX 393 North Lawrence St, Charles Town
Early Voting dates:
April 29 – May 9, 2026 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (including Saturdays)
Saturday Voting: May 2 and May 9
(Note: Early Voting is not offered on Sundays.)
Election Day voting takes place on May 12 at your normal polling location.
Polls are open 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Become a Poll Worker
Poll workers play a critical role in ensuring free, fair and accessible elections.
To serve as a poll worker, you must
- Be registered to vote in your county. Check your registration, update your registration, or register to vote for the first time any time at GoVoteWV.com;
- Be able to read and write the English language;
- Attend training; and
- Be available to work ALL of Election Day.
You may not serve as a poll worker if:
- You are candidate on the ballot or an official write-in candidate in the election.
- You are the parent, child, sibling, or spouse of a candidate on the ballot or an official write-in candidate.
- You are prohibited from serving as an election official due to any other laws or disqualifications.

Absentee Voting
Those unable to make it to the Jefferson County Government Complex during the 10 days of early voting or to their polling place on Election Day MAY be eligible to receive an absentee ballot.Information concerning absentee voting can be found on the website of the West Virginia Secretary of State, or by contacting Shaun Pacetti at 304-728-3217 or spacetti@jeffersoncountywv.org.
