2045 Comprehensive Plan Update

Welcome to the 2045 Comprehensive Plan! By West Virginia State Code 8A-3-11 Jefferson County is required to update the Comprehensive Plan every 10 years. Each Comprehensive Plan looks 20 years into the future  to predict trends and adjust to the new changes in and around the community. Because the previous update, Envision Jefferson, will be turning 10 years old in January 2025, we have begun work on the 2045 Comprehensive Plan Update. 

Over the last two years Planning Commission has been preparing the Comprehensive Plan Update for County Commission to review and approve. Two surveys, five public input meetings, and two public hearings have taken place as part of the outreach for citizen engagement. We encourage everyone to participate in determining the direction of Jefferson County!

On October 8th, 2024, the Jefferson County Planning Commission voted to recommend the Comprehensive Plan to County Commission. The Jefferson County Commission will hold a Public Hearing on December 4th at Jefferson High School starting at 6:00 p.m. for the community to provide feedback. Written comments or questions regarding the Comprehensive Plan update can be sent to complan2045@jeffersoncountywv.org.
